Motorola CDM1550 Remote Mount Display
Hello! Well my question is this. When I have the remote unit connected the backlights do not come on and when I turn the unit off it will not turn back on. When the unit is hooked back up to the stock form it all works fine. Is this a programming issue?? Also real quick what adapter do i need for an Antenex CPL9CFF to the back of the motorola unit?

The flex isn't plugged in all the way, which is why your backlight and power button isn't working right. Pop the head off the adapter plate and push the flex in all the way.

I checked the cables...everything seems to be in order and firmly slotted and facing the "O". Still no backlight and once it's turned off I cannot turn it back on..so i have to revert back to stock to get it to power up again and then switch to remote..again!

Since it works as a one-piece the first things to suspect would be the remote mount kit or the cable from the head to radio.
If the kit was hooked up incorrectly at some point (flex cables plugged in backwards) it may have been damaged.
What are you using for the cable from the head to radio? Stock Moto cable? Cat5 from the computer store? Homemade? Zip cord?
Also make sure when you put the head together that the circuit board stays seated, they have a tendency to pop loose when you put the back onto the head.

Yes I am using a motorola stock black cable..it came with the kit. Like i said it works..just no backlight and once I turn it off it will no power back up.

Hey guys your help would be great on this. I'm at a stand still right now.
Re: Motorola CDM1550 Remote Mount Display
Try using a different cable or remote mount pieces that attach to the control head or radio. Like they said before if it works properly when directly attached to the radio it has to be one part of the remote mount kit that is defective.

Your problem is definitely the kit. Where did you get the remote kit from? I've seen several from eBay power sellers with corrosion and behaved similar to like what you are describing. The remote kits for CDMs aren't very reliable anyway. If you get it hooked up and working, don't touch it, ever, and never program it through the remote kit. Also, do not pinch the control cable.

CPL9CFF is an adapter itself: UHF female to UHF female.nyrescue wrote:Forget it..I tried everything, guess its bad. I wanted to know though.. what adapter do i need for an Antenex CPL9CFF to the back of the motorola unit?
The CDM has a female mini-UHF on the back of it.
