VRM/PRM ID reprogramming

Post by Pj »

Are the unit ID's suppose to be reprogramable with WinRSS?

I am 99% sure that I have done my PRM240 (MW800) a few times before, but now it will not take an updated unit ID. I get the message "ID programmed in the modem is different. Do you want to maintain the one in the modem". I click no. The ID however, does not change (when read back into WinRSS). No errors on programming it.

I saw in the limited help file that is appears it cannot be changed.

So, if it can't by winrss, how/where, etc?

The modem in the MW520's seem to have no problem, IIRC.

You are talking about the individual logical link id like 8034Bxxx right? As far as I know that id has never been changeable, except maybe with a higher password level than what I have which is system integration level.

Correct...that ID. Again if IIRC, I was able to change that before at the D user level, but no more...

I am just curious why that would be a field that can be changed, but not really be changed.

Then again, it is made by Motorola...

I have never seen an option to change it. If it could be changed it would not be a part of the serial number tag.

Does anyone have a password greater than the system int level TerryJe..... ?
