Syntor X9000 Rear Mic via VIP

Post by ajmanz »

I am trying to get a rear mic working on a Syntor X9000 using the VIP port. Is this at all possible? I looked in the VIP programming and did not see any options pertaining to this. I had a MaraTrac set up like that and was hoping I can do the same with the Syntor X. If anyone could provide me with some info or cable pin outs that would be great.

Thanks!

Nope, I'm afraid it can't be done. There are no PTT, or mic audio lines in the VIP.

Sounds like you have to add a couple of jumpers to the VIP connector.

Good point, Will. Ajmanz, if you want to go the route of modding the head (would mean that it may not work properly for normal VIP functions, if you need them), I'm sure that myself, or several others, can walk you through it. Definitely not something for the faint of heart, though. There are no simple jumpers on the board to accomplish this. You would have to cut some traces, and solder jumper wires to reroute a few circuits, and some of it may be some pretty delicate work.
