setting up ht1250/750 as a pager
i feel like a idiot having to ask this question but what settings do i need to put on these radios to be able have them silent untill they recive an alert tone. if anyone could help me out it would be great
Re: setting up ht1250/750 as a pager
I can't give you precise steps without having my laptop in front of me, but conceptually the steps are as follows:
Program a channel with the Rx freq and PL of the station that will be sending the QC or CA signal. Find out whether the station will be sending PL with the pages. Do not associate this channel with any scan list.
Define a QC or MDC "system" with the appropriate ID, set for decode page. Set for auto entry into muted condition (which is the default, I believe) and auto reset.
Set the auto reset time (we use 60 seconds).
Set the unmute condition to "AND" (requires both freq & tone and page code).
Associate the channel with this QC or MDC system.
You'll have to do some jumping around; as I recall, not all the settings you have to make are in the same (or logical) place.
Properly done, when selected on the page channel, the radio will not unmute for any dispatch traffic until the page code is sent and detected. At that point, it will beep and show display indication, and it will unmute for dispatch traffic for 60 seconds. If the user hasn't move the selector to the normal channel within 60 seconds, the radio will then re-mute and wait for another page.

it don't have to have a code, just type the freq in the box. if you have older pagers with reeds you can take them out and read the frequencies on them or if they are newer pagers just read the pagers for the frequency
