Questions on a MTS2000

Post by davkenrem »

Hello all,

I recently purchased a nice MTS2000 from eBay and have some questions regarding it's programming.

First info on the radio:

MTS2000 UHF Type I
R Bandsplit 438-482mhz
Model No# H01RDD9PW1BN
FLASHCode 000004-000000-6

Radio arrived un-programmed which is fine.

The seller packed a slip with the following information printed on it.

Last Programmed Date- GUI Value....................... 21May 2008
Last Programmed Time- GUI Value...................... 7:42 PM
Radio information Tracking Programmed Source..... CPS
Radio information Tracking Software Version..........06.85
Internal Hardware Version ..............................000F

Radio Information Tracking Software Option..........H37 (SmartNet trunking)

First thing did when I got the radio was backup the radio with the instructions found in the MTSX section here.

My goals for this radio are the following:
a.) not to Toolproof it, and
b.) use it for the 70cm Amateur Radio band, program in some of the local repeaters and some simplex frequencies and go from there. I don't need any trunking whatsoever.

Questions:

What do the bolded options above mean? Am I reading this correctly that the radio was programmed with CPS v06.85?

I was not aware of a CPS 06.85, my understanding was the latest version was 2.02, is this correct?

Does any one have the part no# for the latest CPS version for the MTSX Series?

The spreadsheets I have found indicate RVN4176M for CPS Version R1.10.00 and RVN4097 for MTSX Dos Version R6.06.00, are these the latest and greatest?

From what I have read here and elsewhere on the web, once one of these radios is programmed with CPS, it will no longer program with RSS, what about programming with and older version of CPS than was last used, will that work?

I have tried to dutifully search and read the forum and website before asking any questions on this, I'm hoping you all can fill in the blanks for me.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I have never had a radio professionally programmed before, what does it usually cost? I may have to go that way if I can't find the right software.

The 06.85 is the radio's firmware rev. It is post toolproof, so just don't use any LAB, or DEPOT RSS.

You are correct about the CPS Rev's (R02.02.00)

Depending on the rev of the CPS, you most likely will need the newer CPS. Older CPS (01.1x.xx IIRC) WILL let you go back to DOS RSS R06.07, but 2.02 has been out for a few years now so I would guess yours was programmed with newer CPS.

It can very on the cost, how many channels do you want done? The shop I works for charges extra after 32 channels. The basic is $25.00, and 1/4 hour ($22.50) T&M increments after that.

Several members here can do the programming for you also.
