HT1250 flat audio
I have a Low Band "B" split HT1250 that has very flat audio. I thought it was simply a speaker issue, but I put a new DTMF front on the radio, and it still has the issue. De-Emphasis is turned on for each channel.
Anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

Re: HT1250 flat audio
is this problem significant to just your radio or do others do it too?

That is exactly what I have all of my personalities set to on all my radios.

then the next thing would be to read somebody elses radio and see if they have one of the above listed functions turend on or different and see if the repeater has one of those functions different. if they are all the same then i'd start looking at your radio

Re: HT1250 flat audio
ok, is it flat just on rx or tx also?
Re: HT1250 flat audio
How about the audio processing (APF) filter? When I turned this off in the personality the audio sounded much better while when it was enabled things sounded tinny and kind of flat. But you did say the others were set the same so this might not be it.
Re: HT1250 flat audio
yeah i never turn on the APF
Re: HT1250 flat audio
I've had a massive problem with this in the past. Try setting the expansion type to disabled and I'll bet you will see a major difference in audio. I've managed a large fleet of these radios for a while now (all bands), and this is what I use. I use AGC compression, with disabled expansion. I did have the expansion set to AGC, but the audio was getting clipped at the beginning so I disabled it. The AGC works great for me since we have morons that keep their mic at their waist when transmitting. I just don't think that companding is cut out for public safety communications.
