CP50 RSS errors

Post by cduda »

Hello.

I am trying to run the software for the CP50 portable radio in DOS, when I run the .exe file, I am getting the following message:

pksfx: (w18) Warning SP50.HLP already exists. Overwrite y/n?

and this will come up for each file.

I do not have the software installed anywhere else on the computer.

Anyone know what the problem is or the workaround and what to do to program this radio?

Thank you
Al

Your subject line refers to CP50 RSS, and your message body refers to SP50 RSS. Are you trying to unpack what you think is CP50 RSS and the object file is really SP50 RSS?

The unpacker(pksfx) is simply telling you that you or someone else has already unpacked this self-extracting RSS file on your PC. If you look around, you'll likely find the unpacked files - probably in the same directory that your "master" file is located in. If you don't see them, you can do a CD\ to get to the root directory on your HD, then dir /s SP50.exe. The listing will then show the directory where your [unpacked] exe file is located.

I am sorry...I meant to type SP50 not CP50....thanks for catching that...

I did as instructed in DOS to search and it found the only location, I deleted the file and re-copied the file from a CD and pasted into c drive and tried again, still same problem.

I searched the entire HD and no files were found. I then placed the folder for the SP50 on the HD with the following files in the folder.

pkzip.exe
smrtrnk2
sp50.cfg
sp50.exe
sp.hlp
sp50.mdf
sp50_1.ovl through sp50_9.ovl

Ok team,

I got the program to open using rar instead of winzip...here is the issue now...

Just for S&%$% and giggles, If I open the file in XP and the DOS window opens, I can open the program and open the archive and so on with no problem, I didnt try to program the radio, just to see if the program would open...

When I copy the entire folder onto the hard drive on my programming computer and start the program in DOS, if I try to read or open the archive file, I get the error:

Model Definition File missing...insert disk 2...

I opened the same darn file in XP and everything ran ok...There is no install or setup file, just the .exe file

Ideas??
