Motorola HLN1318A

Post by w1ksz »

This came in a box with some Maratracs. Is there any information (operating/service manual)
that I can download ? Not sure what it does and a search on Batlabs came up empty.

Thanks, Dick, W1KSZ

Hi Dick,

This is a siren/PA unit for a Motorola Maratrac mobile radio. It requires a pushbutton control box model HLN1300 to operate it.

I found this information on this site: http://onfreq.com/syntorx/syntorx9k/dekx9.html
Another DEK imitator is the HLN1300A. It is a special MaraTrac Siren/PA DEK. This is a very special DEK that only works with a special HLN1318 MaraTrac Siren/PA unit. This DEK controls the Siren/PA (i.e. the Siren/PA is a standalone installation). The only connections to the MaraTrac A7 Advanced control head (superficially it looks a little like an Syntor X 9000 head) is for the PA microphone audio, PTT and external radio audio (ExRad). The external radio audio is taken from the speaker lead connection. This special HLN1300 MaraTrac DEK will not work with a Syntor X 9000. However, the complete Siren/PA and DEK MaraTrac setup can be used all by itself as an independent "standalone" Siren/PA. BTW, the MaraTrac HLN1318 and HLN1267 Siren/PA units can not be used with a Syntor X 9000, even though they look like the HLN1185 Siren/PA unit.
I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, guess it will make a nice paperweight. I have no use for it.

Maybe you can offload it in the FSWT forum and get something useful. I dunno.

Anyway, glad to help.
