GP300 Prof Series: differences between Waris and Lazarus

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I play with GP360 with labtools and find out that two codeplugs (".0" files) supplied for the model H25RDC9AN3.

I hopes that file H25RDC9AN3.0 for Waris and LH25RDC9AN3.0 file for Lazarus.

Quote from supplied readme.txt:
(GP340,GP329) | Waris POPULAR UHF | H25RDC9AN3 | PMUE1440A | R04.08
(GP340,GP329) | Lazarus Popular UHF1 | H25RDC9AN3 | PMUE1440B | R04.09
Questions:

1. I am right?
2. What is Lazarus? Search in Google has not given results.
3. In what a difference between Lazarus and Waris?

Lazarus (GP series) uses a regular IFIC and 455kHz IF (a.k.a dual conversion superhetrodyne) like the old GP300 did. The radios also use lead free solder. You'll see that on the portables there are a few white 455kHz 2nd IF filters to do the 12.5; 20 or 25kHz channel bandwidth.

Waris (pre-2004 GP series) used a LVZIF IC which didnt make use of the 455kHz 2nd IF and converted the 45.1MHz IF signal down to audio. I also think the FlashROM had a different part number.

The firmware will be different becuase the two hardware platforms are different. The radio now swtiches channel bandwidth by means of diodes. The LVZIF, I think, could be set by the processer (i.e. command/data).

You are right, but the firmware is the same for both types of radios!
The codeplug is different.

Guys,

Any ideas about these abbreviations?

- PREFKP (Full KeyPad?). But what does mean 'PRE?
- Pref kp
- Pop
- Pop nkp (No KeyPad?). But what does mean 'Pop'?
- Aoba

They are from codeplug descriptions (like is Laz = Lazaurus).

Thanks!

But how to understand 'preferred' here? How keyboard can be preferred? It's present or no.
