Impress Chargers

Post by Jim1348 »

Has Motorola made any Impress chargers that are compatible with older transceivers? I am just starting to learn some more about these and if I understand this correctly, the batteries can be used with some older radios, but if the radio wasn't originally designed to be used with it,then not all features will be usable, or am I way off base on this?

Jim,

The Saber is a perfect example of what you're asking about. You
can get an Impres battery for a Saber, but all of the "features" will
be available only at the charger if the charger has an LCD display,
because the Saber is not set up to display battery data. The
newer radios, such as the XTS, can display the Impres battery
data.

Tom is correct, the WPLN4111 series easily charges all Saber batteries, and I just ran my small supply of them through the other day, and since they have sat for almost 2 years without use, they came back to life with an 87% life rating.

I'd say that was pretty darn good!

Too bad I'll probably never refurb a sword again, but at least I can if and when the need arises.

Add to that the JEDI series, and that's about as far back as you'll get with IMPRES.
