I have a Quantar R2 VHF with a wireline card and Astro modem, but the software will not recognize the card and it always shows WL failure, any clues. Will the software recognize the card even if it is bad? You can change the fields to 4 wire, 8 wire, etc. but in checking for the configuration it states that it should be set to none.

In the status it comes up Station Wireline Firmware Disabled. Have not taken the board out to check to see if something is missing. Will be the next step.

If the station came with that wireline card and it previously worked OK, then it has apparently failed.
On the other hand, if you added the card, there are a couple of gotcha's you could have fallen victim to.
First, the wireline firmware version should be of the same release as the station control firmware.
Second, there are two major families of Quantar firmware: non-downloadable and downloadable.
The downloadable station control firmware must have a download capable wireline board. Upgrading a non-download capable station to downloadable firmware requires replacing the wireline card. That's why there are so many wireline boards on ebay.
Likewise, a download capable wireline card won't work in a station that has non-downloadable firmware.
Your next step is to verify the board versions [service manual or MOL lookup] and firmware. There is a firmware release to part number reference chart in the RSS manual or in the RSS help file on the release CD for the Windows versions.
