CDM1550, powers up and beeps (ordinary double beep self test tone), but the green led does not flash.
Radio seem to work fine, red and yellow leds work as expected, and I've seen the green led blink once or twice during operation (albeit low power, maybe a fluke?), it can transmit / receive / program no problem. No error messages, radio operate normally.
Question: Assuming the ribbon cable is properly connected and the green led works, why would this happen, what does it mean? Is the radio ok? or does this mean something internal is failing? Are the 'tones' more definitive than the green led or equivalent? (e.g. tones merely related sufficient power and the other to actual self-test, or vis versa)
I'm both curious and concerned, though radio appears ok on the surface. Thanks for you advice and insight.
CDM1550, self-test tone v. green led?

As far as I know the green light only flashes when the radio is in system scan mode.
When were you expecting the light to flash?

on power up, as outlined in the manual as well (likewise all moto ht1250 handhelds i've seen, do this)
>The Power-Up Self-Test (POST) beep is programmable. The cycling of the green LED is not.
Are you saying the CDM 1550 doesn't do this... yours doesn't?

Re: CDM1550, self-test tone v. green led?
On a CDM1250 and CDM1550 that I have seen when powering up all you hear is the power up tones (musical in this case - can be programmed) and the display comes on - no LED's. The green LED comes on flashing when you put the radios in scan. I never noticed any LED's on power up. If you leave the radio in scan, turn it off then power it up again the green LED kind of flashes but that is because it is in system scan.
So the answer is yes - the ones I have seen don't.

Re: CDM1550, self-test tone v. green led?
that seems promising that this one is ok! thank for posting! odd since in the manual for this model (CDM1550LS+, not a handdeld), lists this feature.
"Momentary green" = "Radio has powered-up successfully"
Anyone get a green led flash on startup??

Re: CDM1550, self-test tone v. green led?
I have one here on the bench that doesn't light the green light on start up.
Are you sure that just isn't related to the Professional series portables?

Re: CDM1550, self-test tone v. green led?
definitely in manual for CDM1550LS+ mobile, as least manual/version I have.
but so far ~everyone~ here is saying nada, no green light on POST.
could be the manual is plain wrong here, just wouldn't have been my first guess. --or model feature changed since published. excellent to know!
believe this unit is fine then, and i've learned a little more along the way. thanks!
