CDM Help

Post by GEMOTO »

Hello All,

I am trying to read a CDM1250.

I am using Professional Radio CPS R06.07.04.

I am using an RLN4008E with a factory computer to RIB cable.

I attempted to make a programming cable using an RJ-45 to DB25 adaptor.

I followed the pinout on the Batlabs page

DB25 Pin 1 --> RJ45 Pin 4
DB25 Pin 25 --> RJ45 Pin 6
DB25 Pin 15 --> RJ45 Pin 7
DB25 Pin 11 shorted to DB25 Pin 4

This did not work. I tried to read the radio and it said could not open port and to check that the device is powered on and connected. I am definately using the correct COM port as it is the only one and it works with all other radios

I then noticed that the Batlabs CDM page says that the programming cable is the same as a Maxtrac, so I looked at the Maxtrac page and it shows the same as above with out DB25 Pin 15 connected to RJ45 Pin6

So I made another Cat 5 cable from the RIB to the radio that is missing that connection and it still will not work.

Any ideas?

Double check your RJ45 connector and be sure that what you think is pin 1 is really pin 1, etc. If you look at the CDM's control head from the front, the Mic connector's pins are labelled left to right as follows: 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,10.

Thanks, Al. I reversed the cable and it's now working.
