Power voice NSN6054A Speaker ???'s

Post by rtech »

I have searched the board already and I still am somewhat mystified about the pinout for this little gem.

I have several links for this including this:http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorol ... rview.html

I have the basic MVA (no control features) for my MT1000 VHF. I have this powered speaker and can find only small snippets of info on it and I don't want to fry the audio on my radio. Sorry if this has been beat to death as I am late into the game here.

I have the main power to the unit okay, and I understand the RS232 plug is where the speaker connects into the MVA. The speaker was cut off, so no plug. I can fix that.

Am I to understand that this speaker has anywhere from 2 to 4 +12v wires and the other two are for audio plus a ground? I also understand about the earth/ground thing to the audio circuit is a no-no. However, somewhere under the search on this board, I have seen that someone indicates that the black lead for the speaker is a +12v? Huh?

Also, do I need to supply +12v from another source or does the speaker get +12v from the RS232 jack from the MVA itself? I also have the mod pdf that was posted a while back and while informative, I am still confused.

Can someone help unravel the mystery? Mucho thanks in advance.

I have the Motorola manual which includes PCB and schematic. If you still need this info, [email protected]. Will be glad to send it by email.

Thanks,

I have the schematic figured out. I tool the case off and traced the leads. Got it working and it works great! I may have to purchase a few more.
