I have a IBM Thinkpad 385D Laptop
Intel Pentium 150 CPU
Neomagic MagicGraph128ZV with 1.125MB
12.1" TFT display with 800x600 resolution
40MB memory standard
1.35 HDD
1.44MB FDD (non-removable)
IrDA 1.1
(2) Type II, or (1) Type III PCMCIA slot
I put a fresh install of windows 95 on it.
I've tried programming HT1000/maxtracs on this.
I've tried "command prompt only", restart in MS-DOS mode. Using a windows 95 bootdisk from bootdisk.com
I can't get things to read or even do a comms test.
I've been sucessfull programming a m1225, so i know the serial port works.
I've been able to program an ht1000 with a ribless on a dell optiplex gx240 with a windows xp bootdisk
but I can't get this laptop to work...
Tried the same on the laptop.....nothing.
Any tips or advise are greatly appreciated

There is the possibility that the programming connections from the mic connector inside the radio
your playing with is not working. There have been some cases where a radio shop has gone in
and cut wires or board traces to prevent others from playing with the radio programing.
Before you get too wound up, you might want to check out the wiring pin by pin with an Ohm
meter to make sure you have good connections inside the radio.

Re: Jedi Series/Maxtrac etc Win 95 Programming
I know the HT1000 programming works fine on the Dell optiplex when I :
boot with a windows xp "system disk"
Put another floppy with the HT1000 software on it.
Use the ribless Cable or a RIB with Cable
I cannot program a GM300 with this method
However,
When I try same with the above mentioned IBM laptop, nothing works.
I've tried windows 3.1, windows 95 etc.
I know the serial port works on the laptop and I've programmed m1225's before with the windows CPS
I have never been successfull in DOS with this machine.
Any ideas are appreciated

I seem to recall some posts about the thinkpads that said you need to go into the BIOS and disable the Infra-Red port(s) before you'll get the COM port to work properly in DOS.
