Help with a Part number

Post by asmitty0010 »

Need to replace my Astro Spectra W4 remote mount head unit. I need the whole remote head unit complete with keypad (do not need cables or mounting bracket - not sure what actually comes with a new head). What is the part number for this and it needs to be the newer BLACK housing.

Thanks!

You'll be far better off finding one used - they will be extremely expensive out of Moto. Also, the black housing isn't intended for the Astro Spectra - it's intended for the XTL5000 W-series.

The W4 head doesn't have a keypad. What do you mean, exactly?

Is there something wrong with your existing head that would necessitate its replacement?

the display is bad. I suppose I could order just the display but I thought this would be a good time to change the whole head unit. ( i wanted to upgrade to the black "shell" but it seems it will only work for XTL series?)

Thanks

Probably cheaper just to find a used W4 head. They generally tend to be plentifull on the used market.

The XTL "black" plastic vs the Astro Spectra "plum" plastic is basically interchangable. Don't know how much of a PITA it would be to swap out on a W4 head, with the rotary knobs, never tried myself.
