Programming an 800Mhz Motorola XTS5000

Hi, Does anyone know if you can program a Motorola XTS5000 800Mhz radio like a scanner for just RX not TX? I know some systems in order to program them you have to have system keys but is that only if you want to transmit on that system? I want to program an XTS5000 for an 800Mhz apco digital trunked system for RX onlybut i just want to know if i can, and if so what i have to do before i start messing with it?

No, you can't. System keys are required, and the radio may be commanded to transmit by the system, even if you turn everything off.

Buy a scanner.
