25 watt cdm1250 showing 30 watts max?

Post by dbfd588 »

looking to buy a cdm1250 possibly. the model number says 1-25 watts. but the seller sent me a pic of the screen and its showing max tx power 30 watts. whats up with that. just curious if they actually put out more than specd. does a 45 watt put out 50 watts?

They can do more than they are quoted at doing. A 10-25 watt radio will do 10-30 watts. A 45 watt radio will do 50. 5 watts isn't a big difference, it won't affect range at all, it will put more strain on the PA so turning it up probably isn't something a long-winded person should do.

I keep my radios within the advertised specs just in case.
