Astro Spectra ignition sense issue

Post by TWL911 »

I have a trunk mount, mid power VHF W7 that has been moved to another vehicle. In my previous vehicle the ignition sense would work fine, on with the vehicle, off with the vehicle.

Now re-installed, I must manually power the unit on each time I start the vehicle. It does shut off when I turn the vehicle off. I have a known good ignition switched 12v+ to the orange wire, 12v+ to the green wire, and tried all programmable ignition sense options in the CPS. The only thing that was changed was the control cable, which was off an A9 high power spectra. I'm leaning away from a bad cable because the radio powers down with the vehicle.

any suggestions?

And can I use the 15 pin on the rear of the chassis for ignition sense if installed in a remote config?

No, not in the remote/trunk mount configuration.

You must have the green lead hooked to a direct 12 volt source, and the power to the radio chassis has to be direct also, and NOT switched.
Orange lead is IGN sense and can be switched.
