Cp200 channel select problem

Post by radioservice »

I have a UHF Cp200 with 4 channel capability but the switch doesn't seem to change the channels....It moves around fine but it stays on channel one regardless of the position of the switch. I checked the programming and it has 4 unique channels programmed.

Can you help?

There is another screen in the CPS, that allows you to assign the conventional personality to a channel position on the dial. It is probably by default set to 1,1,1,1.

Check that other tab in the codeplug.

On the CP200, the default channel allocation is set for the actual channels the radio is capable of, and there is no default to 1,1,1,1 Etc...

I haven't seen that arrangement yet myself.

If it's a 4 channel radio, it 'defaults' to 1,2,3,4...
And the channel position is also the same, it has to be user changed from the factory allocations.

Every new CP200 we rent or sell comes out of the box the same way, no matter the band.

Tough, cost effective and if programmed for 'really' low power, makes a battery last for several days instead of hours.

No sense making a 5 watt radio make full power, it's hard on the P.A and battery.

I also like the fact this model will do QC-II decode, a great plus for fire departments on a budget!

Just had one with the same problem. Freq switch wasn't bad, but channels wouldn't track their programming. On it's way to Mexirola Land...

The CP200 freq switches are nortorious for going bad. Second most common problem I see to acc`y jacks broken off the circuit board.
