MTX8000 Programming Error

Post by james04tj »

I am attempting to reprogram a pair of MTX8000's that are from a now defunct commercial TRS. I need to wipe the TRS from them and program 10 conventional channels into them. When attempting to read the codeplug in the RSS I receive a protocol error. I even attempted to start with a generic archived codeplug and just force it into the radio but it returns the same protocol error when attempting to write the codeplug. I have been told that this may be due to the fact that I do not have the system key for the TRS but do have other system keys saved along with the RSS. The cable, RIB, and RSS are all known to be good since I program conventional MTS2000's and HT1000's regularly. I just don't program trunked systems much since everything that we do at work is conventional.

You need to take a giant step backwards. Protocol entry error means the computer isn't even communicating with the radio. Check the cables, COM port setting, RIB, etc.
