VHF System Saber Con 7

Post by Hoseman292 »

Gents,

A few years ago my System Saber went to the depot for repairs. When I attempted to restore the programming, the software would not program it since the Con version was now 7 instead of Con 5. I opted to shelve it so that I could fight this battle another day.
This evening I had some time and decided to start the process of restoring each personality. I am able to read the radio and make the changes but once I try to upload the information the software claims the radio version is not valid and takes me to the Radio Version screen.

There I have:

Radio Version........................?????
Model Number H43TUK5170CN
Frequency Range (MHz) 148.00000 to 174.00000

High Power
VHF
Full Keypad
Smartnet
Display

I've encountered this problem with both conventional Systems Saber RSS and Lab
If I change the radio version to Con 6, the software will not program since its Con 7.
I cannot manually (type) the correct Con version in the Radio Version field. The limitations to the software is Con 6 and lower.
The software versions that I am using are both R03.00.2. If there is a higher version available that will program a Con 7 radio, please provide me with the Motorola part number?
Thanks guys for your help.

ps. Why in the world would they update the Con version where there is no software to program it?

RVN4051F is 4.00.00 for Systems saber as of 2004 list I have its being shown on. Its not on any later lists so chances are that the software is NLA because support of the sabers went late 2005.

Thanks for the info. I just did a search for this model number to see if there were any dealers that just might have the RSS still available. No such luck.
So my only alternative would be to have the radio switched back to an earlier Con version... if that is still possible.

Thanks again,
Tim

First, the System Saber RSS is definitely NLA.

Second, Motorola dealers CANNOT sell RSS or CPS packages, these are ONLY available (legally) from Motorola.

To change your radio back to con 6, you need to find a con 6 controller board.

you can see if a shop has the 4.0.0 somewhere on a computer and have them program it for you ...

thanks... but I've got too much to possibly ask anyone to program. I'll just have to keep my eyes and ears open.
