spectra scan capabilities

Post by dss »

does analog spectra consolette have scan capabilities? this radio is trunked and i have modded the radio to conventional. now it has 128 conventional modes. i programmed 4 modes and it don't want to scan. scan is enabled, no zones. i have disabled the hub option. the radio is secure net capable and it doesn't have the board and the hybrid inside. is this me or the radio?

Did you program a scan list? I think it is under F6 on the Rss... You should be able to select and scan 16 channels maximum...Unsure of the zone issue though...I always had conventional spectras minus the zoning capability.

Pre MLM verison 6 had various features that were give/take. V6 and up did just about everything. I'd suspect older MLM, incorrect programming, or (if performed) incomplete bitbanging.

No one mentioned the PL disable or 'HUB' which is an open on the mic to get the console to Scan.
Also check the "scan off hub" setting.

Hello All. John Verser de N0TOP hr. That is great info on the Spectra and please forgive me for
asking if you can do the same inhansement to the Maratrac ?
I have a Maratrac on 2 and 6 meters and would be helpful to add afew channels to them.
Best 73s to all.

Just a heads-up, if anyone comes across a "C2" Smartnet Spectra, they won't scan at all. Something is radically different in their MLM firmware that won't even allow it to be enabled through bitbanging.

One such radio I ran across had the model number D35ZXA5JC2AK. IIRC it had a full A7 control head too.
