IS THIS HOST/DSP OK FOR UHF BAND

Post by N4KVE »

Hello. I'm looking at a UHF AS3 "R" split to use for Amateur freq's. It has the "Nick" flashcode which has worked well for me in my UHF XTS3000. The host/dsp is R07.71.00/N08.03.03. Is this valid firmware for a UHF radio or is this rebanding firmware? Will this work OK on UHF? The radio will also have a few IMBE simplex freq's in it for use at Hamfests & Nascar races. Any comments would be appreciated. GARY N4KVE

The Host and DSP firmware aren't band-specific. Yes, that firmware is rebanding capable but it doesn't apply to a non-800mhz radio so the radio ignores that part of the firmware.

7.71 and N8.03.03 will be fine for what you want. There is no specific rebanding firmware, its just that firmware after a certain revision is rebanding compliant and that only matters in 800mhz. The only fork in firmware so to say is the 6.X/7.x split where 6.x is for 9600 trunking, and 7.x is for 3600. I don't think the 6.x would cause an issue with conventional analog or digital.
