GM300 Repeater IRLP Interface

Post by w7rug »

I have a pair of GM300 Radios interfaced with an MCC RC-1000 Controller. It works great. I've set it up on IRLP but in order for it to meet the rules for IRLP I need to keep the CW ID from transmitting to the remote IRLP radio, which is also PL enabled. I need to disable the repeater transmitter PL when the repeater ID's (this is the key to this post). I'm looking for a mod for the GM300 Transmitter radio that will enable the Transmitted PL only on a valid Receiver COR signal. Since the GM300's have a built in PL Encoder/Decoder option, I'd like to use them in lieu of a TS-64 PL unit. This mod would really make a GM300 Repeater easy to interface with a an isolated remote IRLP station.

Thanks for any help.

Is the IRLP computer physically connected to the repeater or are you RF linking to the repeater? If it is physically connected may I suggest having the node generate the ID there are a number of programs already written for this.

The node is stand-alone, also a GM300 with encode/decode enabled on the repeater frequency. In other words it is not physically connected to the GM300 Repeater. I need to know some way of disabling the transmitted Repeater PL when the repeater Identifies preferably using the built-in GM300 encoder.

Thanks

Kill the repeater CW-ID and let the node do the repeater ID either by voice or CW. Doesn't matter if the node is directly connected or accesses the repeater via RF.

There are plenty of scripts on the IRLP Yahoogroups that will do what you need and more.

Hey Thanks, VE3NSV for the reply. Yes, that's exactly the way I've been doing it using Rob Pectols CW IDer Script.

Great script, installs easily and really works good. I wasn't sure if it was totally legal to do it that way. I just set it to Identify continuously every 9 minutes it keys the NODE Radio and the repeater at the same time. The duplex sound card allows IRLP to

I'd be curious if others are doing the same thing.

Thanks for your input

But how are you legally IDing your up link to the repeater? Doesn't sound you have met that requirement. ALL transmission are required to ID.
