TX AUDIO IN GTX

Post by N4KVE »

Hello. My friend was programming some freq's in my GTX portable, 900 MHZ for ham use. I was looking around the various pages & found the TX audio adjust page. There were 2 settings. One was TX audio. 1-255. The other was Balance audio. I think 1-55. What does the balance audio setting control? Thanks. GARY N4KVE

It adjusts the balance between low frequency and high frequency audio, sort of like a "tone" control on an automobile radio would do. I think this is necessary for the low frequency PL tones and DPL data so it deviates at the proper level. It's equivalent to the "modulation compensation" setting that some other radios have. The exact procedure for adjusting the deviation is detailed in the software manual but there's also info about it in the service manual. I believe the portable generates its own tones to be used during this alignment step. You use one of the Function keys to switch between the two tone freqs and adjust the balance setting for equal deviation.
