Motorola Trunked User Group
Wondering if anyone here is a member of MTUG. If so, is it worth it? I have been thinking about joining but I don't want to spend the money on something that may not prove useful. Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm a non-voting member and its worth the money for the yahoo group where messages are usually posted daily.
The topics range from re-banding to issues with the depot that some are experiencing.

I've been to the meetings before APCO before - usually pretty interesting and worth attending. Lots of product information and chances to explain to the Motorola guys reality vs Motorola reality.

Assuming you are an authorized user (ie: they can verify info to approve your application), it is worth every penny. You'll get more value than what you pay for a magazine subscription elsewhere at the same price.

Yes, I am an authorized user. I'm gonna try to get the state to pay for it but if not, then I'll pay for it myself. Thanks for the replies.

What's the cost? Maybe we should get somebody there....

Re: Motorola Trunked User Group
I want to say it's $500 or something bucks per person. The understanding I have is that you *MUST* own or run a trunked motorola system to join. If someone knows different please let us know.

Re: Motorola Trunked User Group
Considering we have a stack of Motorola trunking gear we run for testing, and considering the role we play in their world, I think they might give us a bit of slack.alex wrote:I want to say it's $500 or something bucks per person. Non-Voting member is $50.00 per person per year. There are no other seperate costs to the agency.alex wrote:I want to say it's $500 or something bucks per person. The understanding I have is that you *MUST* own or run a trunked motorola system to join. If someone knows different please let us know.

I don't remember what it's for a voting member, but it isn't much more
Re: Motorola Trunked User Group
OK, I must have the price mixed up. My stipulation that you must own a /\/\ TRS in order to join is correct though?KS4VT wrote:Non-Voting member is $50.00 per person per year. Off of the Motorola MTUG website:
The site also has a link their application where the membership costs are $85 for voting memaber and $50 for non-voting.
https://feedback.motorola.com/governmen ... UG&cwrap=NMembership to the Motorola Trunked Users Group (MTUG) is limited to Public Safety/Public Service agencies that own, operate or utilize a Motorola trunked radio system or have such a system on order.

Re: Motorola Trunked User Group
OK, I'll have to check on that tomorrow, and see if we can get in - it sounds like there would be some good information for us there.
We may have to ask Motorola to give us a bit of wiggle room, but....
