Spectra A7 Head "SERVICE" mode

Post by aggieemt »

I searched and searched with no results... if I missed it, forgive me.

I have a 45W Spectra with A7 head. I paired the radio and head separately, and it wasn't until I had it programmed that I realized the radio is configured for an A9 head. Until my radio guy or I can find a radio that is set up for an A7 head, I'm stuck with a radio that won't scan and shows channels as "Mode 1", "Mode 2", etc.

Here's the problem I'm trying to solve now... I inadvertently entered the head's "SERVICE" mode. Again inadvertently, I somehow changed the home channel to Ch. 121. Fiddled with it some more, and it changed to 114. More button pushing sent it to 123. I can't find any ryhme or reason to how/why it changed, and can't find any instructions on how to properly work with the A7. I emailed someone else who said that spectras do "funny things" when paired with the wrong head, but nobody can tell me much more than that.

Any help is appreciated!

Why don't you go to the Other Options Radiowide (F4/F2/F9) screen and change the control head type from S9000e to Standard or Enhanced? It should work, and make the radio work properly with your A7 head.

I'm not actually doing the programming... I have neither the equipment nor enough radio knowledge to do it without turning the radio into a useless brick. Seems that the guy at the radio shop said he tried that, and it should have let him, but for some reason it didn't.
