HT1250 codeplug problem

Post by kc0jar »

Here's a short rundown of my problem.

I have successfully uploaded a codeplug containing 21 convetional personalities. Personalities 1-16 are in Zone 1 and Scan list 1. Personalities 17-21 are in Zone 2, but not in a scan list (forgot, that comes in later). This successfully loaded onto my HT1250.

So, since I forgot to have the Zone 2 personalities scan, I went in and added Personalities 17-21 to Scan list 2 and tried to load that code plug. When I try to load them, I get an error message that says it couldn't read the codeplug successfully. Then I get a EEPRM CS ERROR on the radio. I can then successfully re-load the first codeplug that I know works. I've tried loading the second code a couple times and I always get the ERROR after that, so I'm going to stop pushing my luck in being able to load the old codeplug to fix it.

I have both of them saved if someone would want to take a look at them and tell me why the 2nd one doesn't work. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

What version firmware in the radio, and what version software are you using? (Newest is 6.10.04)

Yes, there was at least one firmware version which could potentially give the error you describe. Sounds like it might be the issue...a certain size codeplug makes it puke. The CPS saves the codeplug no problem, so I doubt there's anything wrong with the codeplug per se. A firmware upgrade may do the trick.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

Read the radio with the software and immediately look at the firmware version. It will show up when you read directly from the radio but it is not saved in the file and will not show up if you load the codeplug from disk.

My HT1250 died in the middle of the night at work while sitting on the shelf. All of a sudden it went into a solid beep and the screen says "EEPRM CS ERROR". I was able to read out the radio and program the same code plug back in with no change. How do I load a newer firmware version?

You probably won't be able to do anything with it, but WAIT until at least then end of the month.

A little bird told me that Motorola is working on a repair upgrade for these and the mobiles that will be able to be done in the field by a programmer instead of sending it to Jose to do in Mexico for a few hundred bucks.
