Is there a fix the audio whine that STX 821 portables seem to produce on full volume???

Isn't that caused by the vibration of the speaker causing a whistelling sound because of the air movements through the speaker? I had that problem along time ago but I can't remember what I did to work around it.

I've got 15 of the STX 821 as backup radios for major a major incident response rig. If there's a way to kill the whine I'd really like to know.

Try putting a piece of electrical tape on the back side of the speaker. That should help out with the vibrations somewhat. There should also be a piece of thin clear film as a barrier between the speaker/mic and the case. You might check to see that they are intact.

Any one else go tany ideas?

Thanks I will try this, haven't had to work with a STX821 in years! BUt I can't complain since these are backup radios we didn't have to budget for. I'm waiting for an XTS3000 to be issued my way!
