Emergency alerting w/Trunked 900mhz quantars

Post by clmassey »

I need some input on the best way to alert an EMS group over smartnet II 900mhz quantar repeaters. All responders carry handhelds while on site. Most of the radios are MTX's of various series. We are running around 50 talkgroups on 34 freqs and need to alert specific members radios across all talkgroups of emergency situations. We would need an alert tone and brief voice message. I've read that you cant use paging tones over trunked systems but what about the call alert features of the system? Is this possible?
If Stupidity got us into this mess, then why cant it get us out?

Sounds like you need to setup and program a announcement group. Send an alert tone from the console operator and you're set.
