CM300 versus M1225

I have a bunch of non-LS M1225s in both VHF and UHF in service at my place of employment, and they're perfect for our application. Now we need to expand our fleet and I was looking at the CM300 as a replacement model since the 1225s aren't manufactured anymore. However, I've heard some negative things about the CM300 in regards to build quality when compared to the M1225 and their doing things like dimming the display when they transmit. I was also looking for opinions on how they do in terms of receiver sensitivity and selectivity - the 1225s have very hot receivers, almost as good as Maxtracs.

Also, what's the part # and going rate for the CPS package?

We've sold a number of CM200/300 series radios over the last several years, in particular about 80 of them to a local taxi company. We've had VERY few issues with them. I can't say they suffer in build quality compared to the M1225, in my opinion they are better built. I haven't seen the display dim in a properly wired install. Probably people trying to use the thinner gauge wire on high power. I think you'll find the receivers to be comparable to the M1225...I remember being impressed when I tested them initially. The MDC functionality is a nice plus, as well. If nothing else get a few in to try before making a final decision, but I think you'll like them.

I can't say I've got Todd's experience with them, but I've worked on a few in various fire apparatus and have been happy with them. They seem as good on RX as the M1225 and the TK7180 (the 7180/NX700 being one of my favorite radios).

CM300 is a more than adequate replacement for the M1225. Durability seems OK, a comparison for me will be hard to make as I've got a good deal M1225LS models that are coming up on 7 years of service and the CM300 has not been on the market that long.

I think the CPS package runs about $300 and it will program the portable Commercial Series radios as well (CP200, PR400 etc)
