MTR2000 / MRTI port

I'm having trouble getting the MRTI port working right on an MTR2000. MRTI is enables in RSS. When I ground the MRTI PTT line while the repeater is repeating, the repeater goes thru a reset. The repeater keys OK with just the MRTI PTT, but as soon as the repeater gets a repeater PTT while it has a MRTI PTT it resets. I have 2 different MTRs that do the same thing.

Anybody have any ideas?
