PR1500 channel announcemnt feature

Post by rrfd43 »

My department has been looking at pr1500's and a question has come up:

Does anyone know about the pr1500 channel announcement feature? I am not familiar with it. Can anyone help with:

Does it have to be ordered as an option? Or is it usually built into the radio?
If it is an option what is the name and option number?
Is the announcement feild programmable? Can I adjust what it says?
Can I turn it off and on via RSS?
Does anyone know of a source for further information on this?

Your answers in order....

On the PR and MT1500, it is a seperate option, where an XTS2500 will do it out of the box.
The name is Channel Announcement, and flash option number Q446.
It is programmable, and you can make it say anything you want with the proper voice file.
You can enable or disable it by checking/unchecking the little box for it in CPS.
Search this board for Channel Announcement, there is a great deal of info on it here.

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
