Diversified Technology, Inc. VHF Portable Antenna

Post by Jim1348 »

Does anybody here has any experience with this portable antenna? It states, "Simplex range improvements of two to four times have been reported in the field." I will reserve comment until I hear some reports on this.

The claim is meaningless doubletalk. Data sheet claims 2db gain over the OEM antenna, whatever that is, which just about translates to unity gain.

And COSTS more money.............

And how could it have the 136-174 frequency range, offer more gain, AND be physically much much shorter?

Typical non-techie remark: "Hey that antenna goes futher than this here one!"
Other guy: "Yep, it must, cuz it's bigger!"

Great to know that this kind of Madison Avenue advertising crap also happens in tech circles.
