Connect a 5-pin MaxTrac to an OpenTracker2 ???

Post by KE5ZRT »

I am trying to connect a 2-channel, 5-pin, MaxTrac to an Argent Data Systems OpenTracker2 (OT2m) with a Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS for mobile APRS, but I can't find a schematic anywhere for the wiring between the MaxTrac and the OT2m. Is this possible with the 5-pin model? Can it be connected with the RG-45 mic jack? I've been hitting brick walls in my research for 2 days now, and since storm chase season is at hand, I need to wrap up this project. :o

I know there is a similar thread on the boards, but my question is specific to the 5-pin model, and I didn't want to derail the other thread. Please feel free to move this thread if deemed appropriate.

Not that I am trying to act stupid, but just that I don't know what connections you might be
looking for on the "Argent Data System" interface. Never seen one, never played with one.

Maybe if you gave the board some info on what connections your looking for, some information
could be provided.

Also, check out this page for info on interfacing a TinyTrak to a 16-pin or 5-pin Maxtrac: http://www.kb0nly.net/maxtrac_to_tinytrak.html

Cross reference that with the requirements for the OpenTracker2, and you should be good-to-go.
