In the good old days of Smartzone 3 & 4 life was simple. The Centracom CEB detrunked the talkgroups and provided audio connections to your logging recorder.

The new world is all IP. Motorola has a sort of partnership with Nice and supplies the Nice system to work with 7.X Smartzone. It's not so much a recorder as a server based system. It's way to complex to configure without the Motorola and Nice support people.

If you have a legacy Nice recorder [600 ohm audio pairs / XX channels] that you wish to continue to use on a next generation system, your options are quite limited. You can record operator position audio from the MCC7500 consoles or detrunk specific talkgroups with control stations.

Alternatively, Nice can connect to an ATIA interface to log the control channel data to a server while you use control stations to record every system channel to a logging recorder. The Nice software, ether Scenario Replay or Nice Inform, will then allow you to reconstruct messages from any talkgroup call on the system. That solution isn't as practical for multi-site systems as it is for simulcast systems.
