Hello,
Is there any radio that will allow two (2) receive signalling systems per channel?
I.E. Can I have MDC decode capability and Quik-Call decode on the same channel (personality)?
In lay-mans terms, I would like to 'see' the ID of everyone during normal day to day activities. It we are paged to a fire, I would like for the radio to 'beep' like a pager. Essentially, a pager on 'monitor' with PTT-ID decode.
Is it possible? If so what model(s)? I have tried with the PR400 and HT1250 without success.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Receive Signalling Systems

Nope, not with any Motorola radio, at least. The options are always mutually exclusive.

Re: Receive Signalling Systems
You could with the XTS but you would not have the audio.
The only way and its a mess is to interface a Midian decoder to your portable and carry around a die-hard with you with on duty.
Not fitting your wants, but close.

If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.
Re: Receive Signalling Systems
Add another personality with the same RX frequency but change the signalling system for each. Make sure squelch is set for "AND". Add both to a scan list. QCII and carrier opens the receiver on the "pager" channel and MDC w/ carrier opens the receiver on the "fire" channel.
Any reason this wouldn't work?

Re: Receive Signalling Systems
QCII signalling is notoriously unreliable if the receiver is scanning. The problem is that the receiver enters the QCII channel while the tones are in the process of being sent and, as a result, does not see the defined timing.
This is less of a problem with a "Long B" group call, particularly if you set the console for something like 8 seconds and the receivers for something like 6 seconds.

Re: Receive Signalling Systems
There are some tweaks you can do to make the QCII scanning more reliable. Check out my post in this thread:
