MTS2000 SPeaker Mic Question

Post by RadioNut »

Hi All,

I am using an OEM (non public safety) speaker mic for my MTS2000 and I have a question regarding the port that is located right above where the mic attaches to the side of the radio. This port has a rubber plug in it. I attached an external speaker using a 3.5mm mono plug and it works but the plug does not stay in the hole firmly so I lose the connection and sound. Did Motorola design a specific plug/connector to fit this hole? It seams that it may be threaded also. I am using this setup as a portable mobile installation. I don't have a lot of room in my Equinox for other setups.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, the earpiece port on the original Jedi non-PS style speakermics is indeed threaded. Get yourself a threaded 3.5mm connector and you should be good to go.
