I own a couple of UHF Astro Saber portables. Each radio contains a DES-XL/DES-OFB module which has been loaded with the same "key" allowing them to talk to each other in encrypted mode.
The only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to make the 2-position concentric select between Secure and Clear modes. I've programmed the radios with my purchased (from MOL) copy of Astro Saber / XTS3000 CPS v05.03.00 and have followed the requirements for this 2-position switch from the Help files, but still cannot make it work. The option doesn't even show-up in the Position A or Position B spaces for either Conventional or Trunking in the CPS.
These portables don't appear to be multi-key capable, at least it doesn't show-up in the "Secure" part of the CPS tree.
Has anyone ran across this same issue and found a solution to it? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks and 73's

Re: Astro Saber and Clear/Encrypted switch
You can't assign secure/clear to the two position concentric switch, you have to use the two-position rocker switch.
Re: Astro Saber and Clear/Encrypted switch
I forgot to mention that I have tried all of the buttons and switches with no luck. The CPS Help specifically mentions that the Secure/Clear toggle functions can only be assigned to the 2-position concentric.akardam wrote:You can't assign secure/clear to the two position concentric switch, you have to use the two-position rocker switch.

Yes, I know that's what the help file says, but it is ambiguous at best and flat out wrong at worst, since the CPS will only allow you to assign a complete Clear/Secure switch set selection on both Conventional and Trunking to the Two-Position Rocker Switch:

Once you select Secure TX Select from the Two Position Rocker Switch, Conventional, Position 2, the other three Two Position Rocker Switches are automagically set and become read-only (which is indicated by the "eye glasses" icon when you hover your mouse over those fields).

Geez - I thought I had looked at the Position 2 field many times, but there it was "Secure Tx Select" and once I selected that option, Position 1 did exactly what you described!
Thanks for the help! I'll try to remember to open my eyes a bit wider next time I can't find something! That really had me going!
