EX600 Buzz....Tried Everything.

Post by pluto1914 »

I am using an EX600. I am having problems with 1 freq. 460.3125 PL100.0

I have tried modifying the Base Band Offset using the Tune Application.

I have tried eliminating the MDC all together.

I have tried eliminating the PL and changed to CSQ.

I also disabled the APF.

Is there anything else I should try? Or am I destined to hear a buzz on this frequency?

Thanks everyone!

Have you tried injecting a known *clean* carrier from a signal generator or service monitor at the antenna port to verify that the EX600s receiver is in fact source of the problem?

I have not. But I am very familar with the system I am trying to listen to. Amongst the various receivers that are part of it, the EX600 is the only radio that experiences the buzz.

Try going to Conventional Personality/Advanced and set the Reference Frequency for the channel that you are getting the buzz on for something other than what it's set for (it's probably default). As a warning, even the help file says 'WARNING: It is possible to disable the radio's ability to receive and or transmit data. If you are not fully aware of the impact of this setting, DO NOT MODIFY IT!'. But try it to begin with and see if the radio is generating an internal birdie.

That didn't change anything. The buzz continues. Could this be something in the Global Tuner? Other than the base band offset. I do notice that this radio's volume is very very loud forcing me to keep the volume at 50% or less. Could that casue it?
