desk track
I just got a 800 mhz desk track off ebay. I took out the 800 MHZ radio and swapped the face plate to my vhf spectra and installed it into the desktrack case. it scans and seems to work till you hit the PTT on the mic. then it gets stuck transmitting . the red TX lite doesn't come on, and the radio locks up. the only way to stop it from transmitting is to shut the radio off . when I turn it back on, it's all good till the PTT is pushed again. all the dip switches are set right. I tried a hand held mic to. same thing. it seems I turned my spectra into a scanner. RX only,,,don't try to transmit or els. dead carrier time. buy the way I also tried hooking it up to an external 50 amp power supply. the same thing happens.

sorry if I wasted any ones time.. I found the problem. had a short in the coax. the RF coming back to the radio was locking it up. all is good now. works fine..
