Spectra compatibility with PA AMP

Post by BlueLineEnt »

I'm looking for information on compatibility between PA/Siren AMPs and the spectra I currently have. The model number of the Spectra I have is T44KMA7JA9AK. I'm looking at an AMP with a model number of HLN1185B. Will this amp work with my unit? Are there any other models that will also work with it? Because I'm looking at the one mentioned before, but it doesn't have a cable, and I would prefer one with all the cables, so I may continue to look around. Also, if anyone has one they would be interested in selling cheap, pref with cables, PM me.

Your HLN1185B should work with the analog Spectra (there have been various changes to the Spectra part numbering system over the years). You need a HKN4363 siren/PA cable and a remote mount Spectra with two DB-25 connectors on the front of the radio drawer. There is no place to connect the siren/PA cable on a dash mount Spectra.

If your Spectra is still an A9 without Securenet (as your model number indicates) you already have a remote mount radio, but if you only have a single DB-25 connector for the control head you will need a HLN6161 interconnect board with two DB-25 connectors to replace your single DB-25 connector interconnect board.

I do already have dual DB-25 connectors on the drawer of the unit. Knowing this, my other question is can I activate tones by programming them to keys on the A9 head, or do I have to have a DEK. It would seem to me I can program keys on the A9 head for the tones/functions I want, but I want to verify before I make the jump and purchase the unit.

Yes You can use the A9 head to activate the siren tones, that is how I got mine set up!

While the topic is on the HLN1185B, does anyone have the service manual or wiring diagram for the
siren box? Have been looking for an electronic copy for some time now.
