dumb IMPRES battery question

Post by MTS2000des »

I know you should never charge an IMPRES NiMH/NiCD battery in a non-IMPRES charger on the first charge as it will disable the IMPRES chip but what about subsequent (post initial) charges? I own one WPLN4111 and two IntelliCharge II SUC's but have had mixed answers from the local MSS regarding using them to charge my already initialized IMPRES Nicad and NiMH batteries for my XTS radios. Cannot find any documentation saying anything other than "don't do it for the initial charge" but don't want to risk losing IMPRES capability to try it on one of my batteries.
The views here are my own and do not represent those of anyone else or the company, the boss, his wife, his dog or distant relatives.

You should be ok for 5-10 charges off-Impres before you lose Impres capabilities. You would need to re-initialize the battery each time you bring it back to Impres though, which will eat some charge cycles
