UPGRADING ASTRO SABER VHF MIII W/512K VOCODER BD W/1MEG BD?

Hi,

I have a Astro Saber VHF Model III.Currently have has a 512K vocoder board.Can I simply sawp out for a 1Meg vocoder board?If so,do I need Astro Lab or MTSX Lab to get the radio to work????

You can swap it, the problem will be if you just take the s-record out of the 512k radio and force it into the 1-meg vocon the codeplug will still be an older version. Your best bet is to read all tuning info from the 512k vocon and write it down, find a newer version s-record from a 1-meg radio and push that in. Then restore your tuning values.
