XTL2500 Dual head configuration
We are in the process of replacing our older Astro-Spectras with new XTL2500 mobiles. In our ambulances these are dual control heads. For whatever reason, a couple of these are coming on with the radio switched to the rear head. Not a big problem, but it is irritating and it tends to make my phone ring. How does the radio know which head is the front vs. rear and how do I fix this. I've tried swapping cables and it didn't help. I wasn't the installer so I don't know what happened. I see in the CPS to alias head one & head two. Does a head come from the factory knowing it is head one or two. Any input would be helpful.

Re: XTL2500 Dual head configuration
You have to program the head to its location.
On the O5 heads you have to go to the remote drawer remove the Can Bus cable (blue), for the head you want to program. Turn off power by pushing the power button to the head associated with the pulled cable. While holding the far left or far right, can't remember right off, gray menu button of the lower 5 and the orange emergency, power up the control head. The menu shown there after will allow you to select head 1 or 2, 1 is normally front or the one with seniority. You can go up to I believe 12 heads before you run out of cable allowance?

If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.

Re: XTL2500 Dual head configuration
Pretty sure you're limited to 4 heads per radio
Re: XTL2500 Dual head configuration
we only use two - one in the cab & one in the pt. compartment, but I think you're right.
