Can you drop a CDM1250 down to 27MHz?

Post by laramiecountyCERT »

Morning,
I was told that you could drop a CDM1250 down to 27MHz but have yet to see this done. I would think that the PLL would not lock up down that low and that you would have to realign the radio TX side to be able to do this. Anyone have any information on this?

Why bother to try putting an FM-only radio on a band which has
only AM and SSB operation?

Sorry about that I meant 28MHz not 27 hit the wrong key. Was wanting to drop it down to play around on 10M ham band for some experimenting.

laramiecountryCERT: FYI

I think you mean 29 Mhz

The ham band fm spectrum is in the 29 Mhz range.

29.5 , 29.6 , 29.62 , 29.64 , 29.66 , 29.68

The first two are simplex and the rest are repeater pairs(inputs are -100Khz)

Yes, you can do it. I have done it with CDM1250's on 10m and 6m, along with an HT1250 on 10m.
