MCS CODEPLUG TOO NEW?

Post by kj6ko »

Tried to read a 900 model 1 and got "Codeplug Too New for application" using both 4.x and 5.x RSS. Is there a newer version? Maybe the windows based version? If it was programmed with Windows, am I screwed? Trying to use it on HAM freq's.

Thanks

Current Windows CPS revision is 02.02.00 or 02.03.00 iirc, and yes, they're not backwards-compatible with RSS as of 02.00.00.

Windows CPS is plenty capable of being bandsplit-hacked for 902-928 operation, it's just a little more involved than the RSS hack. Read the general instructions for hacking CPS and do some searching here and all your questions will be answered.

Most of the stuff I've picked up for hammy use hasnt been touched with CPS, mostly RSS since the units were surplused at some point, and hadn't been programmed in years.

Find yourself a copy of later version RSS and you will probably be fine. As said, much easier to use for hammy use.
