LTR/Passport

Post by RADIOMAN2002 »

I've posted the same question on RR. I was wondering which Motorola Professional Radios require the Passport board and which don't. The HT-1550xls I though had it in the firmware. But I am unable to talk to it with PPCPS. Are there any of the CDM mobiles that come from the factory with Passport?

Any of the CDM or HT series radios with the LS+ option have a passport board in them. The main kicker with the Passport board that people have to be careful with is the fact that you CANNOT mix mobile and portable passport boards. Don't ask me why it's just something that came up in the factory when we were using "remanned" boards. Something about the initialization of the board sees that it's in a mobile or a portable and that becomes permanent.

As to why your 1550 could not read the passport board I don't know. I do have to ask if you had it on a programmed passport channel? If the radio is not on a passport channel or you don't have one you'll have to get a default with a passport personallity/channel then program the radio. At that point you should be able to read the board while the radio is on it's passport channel. (I know lots of redundency there sorry)

Hope that helps.

These are factory radios still in the box. Now maybe I'm missing something, the model is a HT-1550 XLS ,that's supposed to have passport in it. Is there a HT-1550 LS+? I've looked at most of the vendors on line and found no other models other than the HT-1550XLS. If I open the radio will I find an additional board?

Yes, sorry the XLS is passport it's their new passport/ltr term. I get stuck on the LS+ stuff from time to time.

Not sure why you can't read it with your PPCPS, the latest and greatest version is 5.02.03 (guess I'm 1 version behind here)
Beyond those things I'm clueless. (nothing much new there)

Ok, I got a solid answer for you and boy was I wrong.

The HT1550 XLS is LTR trunking only. No passport. Highest Portable with Passport is of course the HT1250 LS+ model.

That came straight from mother M's mouth.

Ok, thanks that's what I figured. Now I just got to get them to make a Pssport board for the Vertex VX-900 portable.
