How to disable ignition switching GM300?

Post by rcit »

I understand that to power up the GM300 with ign switch enable you need to apply 12v to pin 10. But how do you disable this feature? I thought it was enabled by cutting a jumper on the board, but it's not cut. There's no place in the RSS to do this...is it possible I'm just using an old version of the RSS? I thought it was an F9 option...

You have it backwards. From the factory, the GM300 had a fuse installed which allowed you to bypass the ignition switching. If you wanted ignition switching, you would normally clip or remove the fuse. Some people took the 'non-invasive' approach and powered the radio completely through pin 10 (no main power hooked up) and then transmitted with the radio, thus blowing the fuse and causing the radio to require ignition sense from then on, without having to open the radio.
